What's New at the Village Shoppes...

I’m sure it’s not breaking news that Eckerd is up and running at the entrance of Waterford, but given the traffic and the road work going on along ‘our’ stretch of Hwy 17, you may have not taken your eyes off the road (and prudently so) and seen what else is going on in The Village Shoppes and in the Medical Center. Just in case you might be running on the life autopilot that seems to sneak up on us, here’s an overview of all the neat and exciting things happening in the neighborhood.

For those of us who are disciples of the philosophy that coffee is a life force, there is Port City Java. This is a Wilmington based company (was the name the first clue?) that has enjoyed tremendous success by doing what they do well; starting with the roasting up to the brewing, this is an aficionado’s java joint!! From a regular cuppa joe to a complex confection of flavors, here’s your spot! Port City does more than coffee too; fresh baked goods, salads, panini, wraps, smoothies, more! Take out for the whole office, pick up breakfast for a houseful, or sneak off with your laptop to sip and surf the net. Call 383-2429 or visit portcityjava.com for more information. The Village Shoppes, Suite 100

Salon D’Vin is a full service hair salon, specializing in cuts, color, highlights, perms…if it has to do with hair, Vincent and Deborah Conti are the people to see. Whether you need everyday help or special occasion styling, Salon D’Vin is a pleasant oasis right at your doorstep. Appointments please! This is a boutique salon where customer care is at the top of the list of services. Call 383-1523 for appointments and more information. The Village Shoppes, Suite 101

We all have those on our gift list that make us cringe at the prospect of coming up with something fresh and exciting. Enter the Spotted Toad and fret no more! With an amazing array of lines and products to choose from, your ‘prefect gift’ worries are over. Owner Gina Fargnoli has designed an aesthetic array from the eclectic to the esoteric and offers home accents and design services as well. Stop by or call 371-3559. The Village Shoppes, Suite 102

The House of Wine and Cheese is more than a spot to select something perfect for sipping or dining; it’s an education. Owner’s Susan and Martin Tillier have created a wine connoisseurs haven; with weekly tastings (Friday’s from 4-7), wine classes, and of course, their wealth of knowledge of their wares, their shop is a browsers, and tasters, treat. You do not need a sommelier’s cup to feel at home here; the atmosphere is friendly, helpful and relaxed. Call 383-2344 for more info or drop in Friday afternoon and visit. The Village Shoppes, Suite 103

George Murray, artist and owner of Murray Frame and Art Gallery, knows his business. Talented in his own right, he also offers the work of other artists as well as matting and framing with super service. Not sure what to put on that wall, or what mat will compliment your piece best? Visit George for friendly and talented help. 371-3965. The Village Shoppes, Suite 104
